Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data The Discombobulator collects, how it's used, and your rights. Short version: we collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
What We Collect
- Voice recordings & transcripts — processed locally on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework. Raw audio is never stored on our servers.
- AI-organized notes — your transcripts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to be organized. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing. See anthropic.com/privacy.
- Anonymous usage events — we track anonymized events (e.g. "recording completed") using PostHog to understand how the app is used. No personal data is attached.
- Subscription status — managed by Apple via StoreKit. We never see your payment information.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email, or any identity information
- Your location
- Contacts, photos, or any data outside the app
- Raw audio recordings (voice data is transcribed on-device)
Data Storage
Your brain dump entries are stored locally on your device. iCloud backup may include this data if enabled in your iOS settings. We do not operate our own servers to store your content.
Third-Party Services
Children's Privacy
The Discombobulator is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect personal data, there is nothing to delete or export from our side. To delete your app data, simply uninstall the app. To delete iCloud backups, manage them in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
